To Myself

Τῶν εἰς ἑαυτόν

The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius, in a new parallel-text edition — the original Greek, the sixteenth-century Latin, and two independent English translations, side by side across all twelve books.

An edition unlike the others

Most editions give you one translator's voice. This one lets you watch the text being carried across languages — and see, line by line, where the meaning shifts.

The honest edition

The Greek and the English follow the standard critical text. The Latin column reproduces Xylander’s 1558 translation; where the early printing was incomplete, a small number of passages are editorial restorations, supplied for continuity and clearly identified in each volume’s note on the text. Nothing is passed off as something it is not.
